Agencies Knew And Failed To Act
On October 17th, Sally Regenhard and Monica Gabrielle

knew and failed to act upon.

Bill S: 2496, "The National Construction Safety Team Act"

the subpoena power for the NIST investigation into the collapse of the
WTC, which is officially underway. Please visit wtc.nist.gov for
ongoing updates. The Skyscraper Safety Campaign is very proud of this
accomplishment, and thanks all the family members who assisted in this
endeavor.

SSC And Families Of The Victims Were Kept In The Dark

City Council member Alan Gerson and other concerned citizens on the steps
of City Hall for a Press Conference to express our outrage at the news
that Mr. Larry Silverstein, his insurance companies and the Port
Authority have been secretly doing investigations into the collapse of
the WTC, while the SSC and families of the victims were kept in the dark.
We called for public disclosure of this information.

Independent Investigation Into The Security Lapses Of 9/11
On September 18-20th, Sally Regenhard and Monica Gabrielle
accompanied September 11th Advocates, Voices of September 11th, and
Families of September 11th to Washington, DC to support Kristen
Breitweiser and Stephen Push as they gave testimony to the Senate
Intelligence Committee regarding the need for an Independent
Investigation into the security lapses of 9/11. Monica and Sally spent
three days attending these public hearings. Our presence, with photos
representing all lost loved ones, was reported throughout the USA.
It is clearly obvious from the outcome of these hearings
that the need for an Independent Investigation with full subpoena power
is necessary to find out why 9/11 happened and to prevent it from
happening again. It is critically important that all Americans call
their Congressmen and Senators asking for their support of the
McCain-Lieberman bill, which calls for such an investigation. For
information on contacting your Congressmen and Senators, call The League
of Women Voters at (212) 213-5286.

Meeting with Senator Hillary Clinton
On the evening of August 15th, the SSC was honored to join
members of the Coalition of Families and other family members at an
intimate meeting with Senator Clinton. We discussed the need for a
proper, reverent Memorial which respects the lives of the victims. We
also expressed the need for a Unified Command System for Emergency
Management in NY, as well as FDNY radios which work properly. We called
for Federal funding for this purpose. We also called for support of
Building Code reform in NY as well as the outlawing of construction at
the WTC that does not conform to NY Building and Fire Codes. Finally, we
urged adoption of the "International Code" for NYC, which was recently
adopted for NY State. It was a extremely valuable meeting and Senator
Clinton pledged her continuing support for the wishes of the families.

SSC Press Conference on the steps of City Hall
On July 14, 2002, the SSC, joined with families and
friends of the Victims as well as representatives of the UFA and other
concerned persons to call for a public inquiry into the lack of
Emergency Management Coordination between the FD, PD, and other agencies,
and the inoperable radios that contributed to so many deaths on 9/11. We
presented letters requesting meetings with Gov. George Pataki, Attorney
General Eliot Spitzer, City Council President Gifford Miller, and Mayor
Michael Bloomberg, regarding these critical communications issues. As of
this date, the SSC and its Professional Advisory Panel have met with
everyone except the Mayor. We are encouraged to hear that a meeting with
Mr Bloomberg's designees is being planned. We await a complete,
comprehensive public inquiry regarding what happened on 9/11.
