The Mayoral Code Commission, established November 27, 2002 by executive order, is composed of twelve members appointed for their knowledge of and familiarity with the professions and trades related to the design and construction of buildings in New York City. The Code Commission is reviewing and will make recommendations to the Mayor regarding the adoption of a model building code. Under review are the International Building Code (IBC) and the NFPA 5000. Among the criteria being considered for each code are its:
***Location and Date The New York City Department of Buildings will be holding a forum on February 14, 2003 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House, One Bowling Green, New York, New York 10004. *** How to Participate To request a place on the agenda, please transmit to DOB the following information via fax (212) 566-3813, or delivery to 280 Broadway, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10007, no later than 5 p.m. February 10, 2003: Name, phone number, fax number or email address of proposed speaker name, title, and complete address of the organization the speaker represents (if any) a 150 to 200 word summary of key points relating to the criteria being considered by the Commission The number of requests will determine the total number of speakers, and the time available to each. The time allotted for each presentation is likely to be 3 to 5 minutes. Selected speakers will be notified by February 11, 2003. If time permits, an open session, for which participants may register at the forum, will be scheduled. Registration will be on a first come, first served basis. Speakers who wish to expand upon their oral statements, those who wish to speak but cannot be accommodated on the agenda, and those who are unable to attend in person are invited to submit written statements and supporting material to: Code Commission, NYC Department of Buildings, 280 Broadway, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10007 Fax: (212) 566-3813. Statements made at the meeting and/or submitted to the Code Commission may be recorded, transcribed and made available to the public at a later date.
