Port Authority Scammers

Dear Editor:
Re "Port Authority's Downtown Scam" (Dec. 29):
Bronx: Kudos to the Daily News for identifying the
Port Authority as a bunch of scam artists. Everything the agency
does is shrouded in secrecy. The agency does one thing and says
another.
While the victims' families spent a half-year
begging Congress to do a proper investigation of the World Trade
Center collapse, the PA was conducting its own, secret
investigation. While international architects proposed new
visions, the PA's secret team was doing its own thing.
Gov. Pataki should find a way to cut the head off
this bistate monster. The PA was chartered to facilitate
transportation. What is it doing in the real estate business?
From the people who brought us building safety Ñ now we are
letting them rebuild with the same building and fire code
immunities that characterized their first fiasco? The PA should
be dismantled, and the WTC site should be restored to New York
City.
